Bridging gaps between your teeth
Dental bridges basically bridge the gap between your teeth. A missing tooth / tooth not only create unsightly gap but can cause difficulty in chewing, pain in jaw, drifting of the natural teeth and other complications which are related with change in bite.
Bridges are usually supported on either side by natural teeth or implants. It is made up of two or more crowns on the sides and false tooth / teeth in between them. They are mostly made of alloys, gold, porcelain or in combination with these; your dentist will guide you on which is best suited for a particular case.
Dental bridges can restore your smile; help you to chew and speak, improve overall cosmetic appearance of your face, distribute proper biting forces and prevent the remaining teeth from drifting out from their position.
A dental bridge could fail if the supporting teeth and / or jaw bone gets damaged by any dental issue and you don’t maintain proper oral hygiene like brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing at least once, using antiseptic mouthwash to rinse your mouth, use of a proxa brush or water flossier to clean all around the bridge.
