LASER FRENECTOMY
A frenum is a fold of tissue or muscle connecting the lips, tongue or cheek to the jawbones upper or lower.Central diastima an orthodontic problem is caused by high frenal attachment , poor retention of denture a prosthodontic problems, gingival recession and inflammation and speech problem (tongue tied in ligual frenum) a periodontic problems are also seen.

Frenectomy a common procedure in which removal of one of these folds of tissue is done using laser which is a much more comfortable for the patient because of no scalpel or stitches or bleeding.

At Smile Dental
• Initially local anaesthesia will be administered.
• Oblique or perpendicular direction laser is held in between frenum and tissue surface.
• The tissue will be released by cutting first above and down avoiding the vessels and glands in the floor of the mouth.
• After end of laser exposure, the surgical area will be wiped with gauze soaked in normal saline.
• No periodontal dressing will be placed and no antibiotics will be prescribed.
• The procedure will be completed within 20 to 25 minutes.
• The patients will then be followed up for 3 subsequent visits, after one week, one month then 3 months.
